Politics is like a huge sewage plant spewing the raw sewage of hate, hostility, ill-will, mudslinging, name-calling, slander, arrogance, strident posturing, bullying, contention, self-rightness, self-righteousness, strife, judgementalism, backbiting, character assassination, pettiness, negativity, incessant whining, constant complaining, woe-is-me handwringing, muck-raking, fear mongering, infantile behavior and the sowing of discord into the lives of Christians who are bathing in cesspool. Just listening to the carnality, you can’t tell the difference between a Christian or a rank sinner. It is not the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control we’re seeing.
But so many politically charged Christians are so blinded by their political” rightness” that they think their politic correctness outweighs even the clear teachings of God’s word. Their spiritual discernment has been so clogged with political sludge that they can’t see the forest through the trees. It doesn’t matter what side of the political divide they are on; their political partisanship is so right in their own eyes that it even justifies their carnal spirit, attitudes, actions and words. I think the “Inquisitions” were like that.
Regarding this, Paul made it perfectly clear what our actions should be; “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (I Timothy 2:1-4)
